Presentation

Exceptional end-of-life experiences (EELE) refer to phenomena or occurrences that take place during the final moments of a person's life, at the time of death, or shortly thereafter. These experiences may be encountered by individuals nearing the end of their lives, their loved ones, or even healthcare professionals. They encompass various types of unusual events or perceptions, such as visions of deceased individuals, bursts of energy shortly before death, coincidences surrounding the time of death, shared death experiences, and more.

Although these atypical experiences are less documented than others, they nonetheless represent a significant area of interest due to their potential implications, particularly in terms of supporting patients at the end of life or those grieving, as well as enhancing our understanding of consciousness itself. Our event aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on these topics to promote a deeper understanding of end-of-life in all its dimensions.
